Adisham February 2005 - Wazzup?
An investigation into a seasonal TRO or two.

This is the area (just south of Adisham) where the photos were taken on
Friday, 4th February 2005. Photos 1 to 6 show one of the 'dangerous' areas, photos 14 and 15 show the other 'dangerous' area. The others show the rest of the lane. Total length of lanes must be about 1.5 miles, area of concern perhaps about 50 yards total.

![]() 1 This is just a puddle with light mud. Underneath is a very firm surface. |
![]() 2 Did you spot the sign in the previous photo? Chances of this TRO being spotted - near zero. |
![]() 3 This is called a dangerous junction - but visibility all round is superb. |
![]() 4 My depth guage - it looks bad, but... |
|
![]() 5 it's only 5" deep at worst, and with a solid base. This is NOT a problem, nor is it dangerous. |
![]() 6 This is light surface mud, and of no consequence at all. Why the concern? |
|
![]() 7 Starting from the north now - a pleasant hedged green lane, part tarmac and stones to start with. |
![]() 8 Another small, missable TRO sign where it meets a county road. |
|
![]() 9 A little light mud created by owner's vehicles as the tracks veer away into the woods. |
![]() 10 Very pleasant, firm surface and no damage. |
|
![]() 11 A lovely leafy lane. No damage. |
![]() 12 Hardly damaged by over-use, eh? |
|
![]() 13 Looking back - a TRO sign? But how would any vehicle get here past the other TRO signs?? Or is this for the benefits of the landowner and his/her vehicles? |
![]() 14 At last, some damage. 10 yards worth. A firm base, tracks made through mud washed down from field. |
|
![]() 15 I reckon two men with two spades could have this smoothed and drained in two hours. What's the problem? And for whom is it dangerous? |
![]() 16 Up the hill. Very light surface wear. |
|
![]() 17 Ditto. |
![]() 18 Ditto. |
|
![]() 19 Ditto. |
![]() 20 Into the woods. |
|
![]() 21 This section was resurfaced last year and is holding up well. |
![]() 22 Very pleasant here. |
|
![]() 23 Lovely trees. |
![]() 24 Looking out of the woods and some light surface damage, but all quite normal. |
|
![]() 25 Back to the damaged corner and looking up the field. |
![]() 26 Is it the shooting parties that have caused the damage? Pheasant feathers by the lane... |
|
![]() 27 The moles are doing more damage than the vehicles - ban them! |
![]() 28 Track of one motorbike in the field - some illegal use that is very hard to control. |
|
![]() 29 Up the hill to... |
![]() 30 ..the junction. All very firm surfaces. |
|
![]() 31 Looking up across the field to the area of photos 1 to 6. Very firm, no damage. |
![]() 32 Plenty of signs, but the TRO sign is low down and very hard to see. |
|
![]() 33 Looking back along this 'dangerous' and very damaged lane. Who's fooling who over this??? |

So, what do you reckon? I've seen a lot worse damage that has either
been ignored or been repaired easily. The TRO is for 21 days and 6 monthly renewal after that until
the KCC are happy that the surface is good again. How will that ever happen if there's no
maintenance? Anyone got a spade and a couple of spare hours? Just don't tell me what
you're doing with it, ok? |
